Sunday January 30 2022 - 12 years ago: Dr. MonarchPast matches
I stumbled upon these pics that we took back in November of 2010. These were part of a set with Dr. Monarch (id 3997) that was incomplete, meaning that we had insufficient pictures to write a full scenario. It was back at a time where my camera could only take 3 shots after a 10 second pause, and then I had to re-configure the camera over again... which kinda made the whole photo shooting tough, cumbersome and way way more tedious than it should have been. We did took 40 images, but among those, at least half were broken in the sense that my camera back then was still incapable of capturing the slightness movement or brisk movement in our holds, so you'd get the blurry effect while trying to make the hold a bit too real. 😂

Anyhow, these images are still nice and I felt it was time to share them today.

And we can also make a quick mini-story with it! Dr. Monarch has Loserboy in his claws and traps the helpless Loserboy in a dreadful nelson!

Loserboy is not intimidated! He escapes from the nelson and shows Dr. Monarch who's the boss! Loserboy exclaims: "Taste my bearhug and submit to your superhero!"

With that, Dr. Monarch howls in pain as Loserboy crushes him over and over!

But little did he know, Dr. Monarch was faking it all along! Dr. Monarch easily breaks out of Loserboy's pitiful bearhug and gives Loserboy one of his own! Mwahahahaha!

Oh no! Loserboy is in trouble! He is crushed by the evil paws of Dr. Monarch. He is so strong, so powerful that Loserboy has no choice but to submit to Dr. Monarch crushing squeeze. This is a dark day for our world. This is how Dr. Monarch finally manages to conquer the world! It teaches us right to rely on the useless Loserboy to save us! Who in their right mind would hire Loserboy to take care of such an important task?😅

Sure, I could have done a story this short, but it wouldn't be as fun as a 10 page story board with lots more action and useless onomatopoeia and animations to fill in the gaps. 😝

In addition, if you were picky, you would probably have wondered why did Loserboy suddenly remove his mask and why did Dr. Monarch change his? However, since this is a low-budget parody match, you should not pay attention to those silly little details. 😛

So.. anyway, we were a bit hindered by the limited tech back then, hence the insufficient amount of images... Nowadays, I just let my new camera roll and it takes a shot every second until you ask it to stop and then you find yourself having to browse, pick and choose in a set of 1,000 pictures... from which, maybe 800 are unusable, but at least 200 is a good and sufficient count to make a match out of it. 😅

Little funny tidbit, that last picture with the mask on Dr. Monarch: that's exactly the reason why I no longer wear masks in my matches. If they aren't attached tightly and properly, they tilt sideways and hide your vision, not to mention, they also affect in a funny way the overall look and feel of the shot. 😅

For the record, Dr. Monarch and I still do have 2 complete chapters on the site if you want to look at them. 😅

Saturday October 26 2019 - Bouncing bearhugAnimations
Most of my animations end up being something silly, but I have used GIF animations several times in the past to loop a submission hold: such as repeating a bearhug endlessly or racking someone over and over. After reviewing the bearhug I recorded with Vicious (id 5128) the other day, I've decided to create a loop with it.

I know this looks like something different, but to each their own imagination, right? I like how Vicious pretends to be struggling...

Thursday October 24 2019 - An excited panda!Something silly
This will probably be the silliest thing I've posted in a very long while. A friend of mine gave this panda bear plush on my birthday last June and I've decided to do a few animations with it. So... I'm gonna hurt your eyes a bit with this

I realized that I probably should do the same thing with "Beau", the one that Fun4Us (id 8822) gave me in June of last year. I guess I'll save that for another day. That's enough excitement for today.

Sunday December 3 2017 - Loserboy vs Marty: Rematch!Scenarios
I finished writing up yesterday the story for the 2nd chapter of the chronicles of Loserboy vs Marty. I sent it for a review and approval to Marty (id 6169) and he gave me his blessing.

You can read the scenario under Match ID 340. Similarly to what I did to one of my previous matches, I added a few animations to spice it up... make it slightly different. For example, here's one of me racking him indefinitely:

With this mechanism in place, I don't have to worry about getting tired holding 200 lbs on my shoulders even after racking him for an hour... Unlimited stamina! Its as if I'm using cheat codes and save state hacking in real life. (Don't worry, only a geek manipulating emulators would understand that last sentence.)

If you haven't gone through Chapter 1 yet, you can still read that one first under Match ID 152 (this was actually written in 2012...), but there is no real requirement to do so since you will understand what's going on regardless if you've seen the prequel or not. It's not as if there is a necessity to read the chapters in order or to read them at all. Don't worry, you won't lose yourself in the silly twisted plots and overwhelmingly campy storylines I come up with in my matches.

Anyway, if you liked the match and would like to see more chapters in the future, then please be sure to leave a thumbs up on the match or a comment or two. Marty is someone that's very enthusiastic and collaborative about the idea, so I'm sure I can get him to shoot another chapter... hopefully, one that doesn't require 5 years of waiting. I just need to put my act together, call him and wrestle him. He's a busy man, but he's not impossible to schedule for a match. Perseverance, understanding and patience is the key to work with Marty.

Monday April 24 2017 - Home setupBlog entry
This is my home setup (or workstation). It consists of one desktop connected to two screens in extended mode and one laptop that I always take with me during my wrestling travels. When I come back from a trip, it goes back here and I re-sync up everything.

On the back, you'll see a couple of my trophies from the Clash. The mostly hidden Stormtrooper unit near my head is actually holding my Monica Lewinsky medal, which I am not ashamed at all to have or to show off (even though my shoulder is hiding it partially, not on purpose, I swear! You can still see the white, red and blue ribbon though). You can then spot the toys that uncovers my geeky video game side: there's Pikachu on the left, a fake Mario mushroom near the top and the T-shirt I am currently wearing is Ryu Hayabusa's eyes from the first Ninja Gaiden on the NES.

The pile of DVD spindles, covers and envelopes you see is very old school, I know. The binders actually contain a lot more DVDs. I need to convert all this crap into content I can access from external hard drives. Most of these DVDs contains data I almost no longer use. This was at the time where I ordered entire WCW/WWF seasons just to access two or three shows that actually have bearhugs in it. There's also near the mushroom one of my few remaining VHS tape. I just looked into it and it's JPWA's February Fallout. It's worth nothing now, not to mention that my last videotape player is now broken so I can no longer read what's on that tape anymore. If you see the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary book on the right hand side, underneath it is that broken videotape player (it's actually a VHS tape to DVD converter), plus two DVD players (who uses those anymore?). Yes, I guess I'm due for a cleanup, but these old clunky devices are great to hold my monitors in place.

In case you're wondering, the red thing on the left is a safe that contains... Mars mini-chocolate bars. To make a long story short, I hide these chocolate because my roommate Be-Bear (id 2910) is diabetic and he'd often go in my room to steal chocolates.... Sounds like a lame excuse, I know.

On the middle screen that has characters that look like it came from a Matrix movie, it is simply running Bash on Ubuntu on Windows 10. The right screen is currently on my blog and the left screen is on the main page of bearhugger.net - it is currently showing the Top 30 vote ranking contender stats... nothing important, really. Near my elbow, you'll see another DVD spindle, but under it is three external hard drives of 4 TB (Terabyte) each. They contain both personal and site backups, backups of backups, software, shitty games, multimedia content (video, music, photos) and a lot more junk. Not shown in this photo under the desk is two more external hard drives of 4 TB. You can never have too many of those... Plus, memory is so cheap nowadays that I got one for free when I opened a box of Frosted Flakes cereal ... Just kidding.

The books holding the screens make my setup very ghetto and unstable. A friend asked me if I would be afraid of earthquakes making my screens fall... I actually never been through one yet with this current setup, so I can't tell. Beneath the screens, keyboard and mouse is more books and plastic containers that elevate my setup. Yes, this is a standing setup. I already sit about 40 hours a week, so I prefer to stand up when I use a computer at home. I also like to think that standing makes my body scissors (and consequently, my head and leg scissors) stronger.

When I actually do work on the site, I would usually only do it with my desktop and invest about 30 minutes a day, mostly on the main sections of the site which consists of approving profiles, entries and images, replying to mail and occasionally adding new content. On week-ends, I could spend anywhere between two to six hours depending on what I do, but it is not uncommon that I would take a break and not touch the site for a couple of days, or a whole week-end.

On my blog, for example, I spent a hour today updating the title animations you currently see at the top of this page and on the other ones (pics, clips, matches, bearhugs, etc.). It seems like a lot of time for something minor, but for me, every detail counts. It's what makes the site different and not taken from a template like every Facebook, Tumblr or Instagram account.

You'd think after 18 years, I'd put this away, but no, I've already put so much into it and it represents a lot of my time and sweat, my life and my passion so I'm not ready to let it go. I'll stick to it for quite a long while and I know I still have a long road ahead.
