Monday January 9 2023 - Week-end in OttawaTravel matches
I went to Ottawa this week-end with LumberG (id 250). It's about a 2 hour drive from Montreal. LumberG and I wanted to do something just before his vacay ends. Initially, it was only for a single match with Kevin_Nova (id 9190), because this is the first time in a very long while that LumberG has wrestled anyone. He disabled his profile recently due to several long lasting injuries, so I wanted to take it easy. The trip was more meant for LumberG than for me... it was some sort of recovery of confidence or rehabilitation towards wrestling... but we do it with step by step or baby steps.

As we drove to Ottawa, LumberG told me to also get in touch with CanWrestle (id 9693), who happily agreed to join us even though it was very short notice and last minute.

We arrived at the Ottawa Embassy Hotel and Suites and like I did last time, I took an Executive Suite that gave us around 950 square feet of room space plus 2 bathrooms. Yes, you can tell that space is definitely an important criteria for me when I select my rooms. 😅 I've been in so many hotel rooms where you cannot move the bed on the floor because of the lack of space. You are then forced to wrestle on the bed, so I've decided that I won't take any more risks.

Shorty after unpacking, LumberG was all excited and he has decided to prank Kevin_Nova on his arrival. To make it harder for Kevin to identify him, he wore some sunglasses and a tuque. Kevin has never saw LumberG in person before. The only hints were his profile picture before its manual deactivation a couple of months ago, but the chances are pretty good that Kevin does not remember what LumberG looks like.

So Kevin knocks at our hotel door and he hears LumberG behind it:

LumberG: Honey, the towels has arrived. (opens the hotel door) Hey, do you have the towels?

Kevin_Nova: What towels?

LumberG: The towels I have asked for? Do you even work here?

Kevin_Nova: (shaken) Uh... no.

LumberG: (angrily, raises his voice) Well why the f*** did you knock? Didn't you see the "Do Not Disturb" sign?

Kevin_Nova: Uh... is Loserboy here?

LumberG: What kind of f***** name is Loserboy?

Kevin_Nova: (stutters) Uh...

LumberG: Come in here, I'm gonna have to beat you up! (grabs Kevin_Nova with a headlock and forces him in the room) 😂

Kevin_Nova: (finally understands) Oh ok...

I then went and greeted Kevin and he mentioned that he wasn't certain at first what was going on, but he eventually understood because he was not that stupid. 😅

Kevin and LumberG wrestled for a little while and I took turns with both of them. Shortly after, CanWrestle arrived and we did a nice round-robin. LumberG explicitely mentioned that he didn't want any pictures taken. He was okay with the others taking pics, as long as he does not appear in them. We politely kept our own pictures at a minimum to not make him uncomfortable. Here are two pics where Kevin dominates me. 😀

My face here was probably the equivalent to this emoji: 😆

A little highlight of our meetup was this little conversation: LumberG and I were talking about an opponent I once fought and that I was giving "glee glee" to this opponent. We repeated this word several times until CanWrestle interrupted us to ask: "What the hell is a glee glee?" We explained to him that it's the act of caressing or touching someone softly with tenderness, but in the wrestling context, it's mostly done after the opponent has submitted a couple of times, or is underneath your wrestling level and you feel bad for them. CanWrestle then confirmed that the word he would use for that was "Plithering".

We went for dinner after our match at Zak's Diner Elgin Street and CanWrestle asked me if he can call and invite Kicksands (id 5185) and have him join us for dinner. It was indeed a great idea, so I told him "Yes". Kicksands showed up and his face was semi-red, he looked like he was crying.. but it was really the cold from outside (it was -10°C [or 14°F], if not worse with the wind and chill factor). He told me he was a bit disappointed that I had not notified him that I was coming to Ottawa. I did felt pretty bad and I tried to justify my reasons due to the slow wrestling transition I was giving to LumberG.

Anyhow, after our meal, the guys kindly walked us around Parliament Hill where we got to see a night light show on the Parliament of Canada. There was a smelly gas bonfire to keep us warm (I later learned that this is called the "Centennial Flame") and we were discreetly joined by CdnBackPacker who helped explain with CanWrestle and KickSands the history of the different buildings, sites and events around Ottawa.

Kevin did not recognize CdnBackPacker and didn't understand where he came from, so he went:

Kevin: Who's this guy? Who's this guy? Who's this guy?
CanWrestle: Ok, Kevin.

😂

It was very interesting to listen to the group's take on the Ottawa Convoy Protest that happened in early 2022, because what LumberG and I saw in the media and on social networks was that the protests were peaceful and good and etc. The guys told us that the people in the convoy were partying at 2 AM and you could hear fireworks and noise and music, which would prevent residents from sleeping. It was good to hear both sides of the coin. It was definitely an eye opener.

We walked around some more in the downtown core. The temperatures continued to freeze and get worse, but we managed to take a couple of touristy shots. Here's one in this light ball or ball of light or Christmas ball with all the gang.

Yes, I know, LumberG is not in this picture. He's in another picture, but I won't post it since LumberG is a bit more reserved concerning public sharing.

CanWrestle was a bit tired because he had 3 wrestling classes the day before so he left to get some sleep. As for the rest of the gang, we returned back to our hotel room where we'd rumble some more.

My wrestling with CdnBackPacker was very light. He had previous injuries and I felt bad that my scissors might or could have worsen his state. LumberG correctly guessed that I found CdnBackPacker cute. Mind you, LumberG would have wrestled him too, but was only hesitant because he came to the rescue by double-teaming KickSands when LumberG was in trouble.

KickSands on the other hand beat me one submission after another... as usual. 😂 If in the past, I was the scissors and he was the paper. All I would do is to wrap him in my scissors and I'd get an instant submission... Well today, he is this paper that manages to beat the scissors by wrapping itself around the scissors and preventing me from applying any scissors at all. ðŸĪŠ I've submitted to his multiple armbars, rear naked chokes, frontal chokes, sleepers, any BJJ moves you can name, he has them and he'll put them on! 😅

LumberG told us that BJJ is probably Blow Jobs and Jerking and KicKSands told us that it Blow Jobs Jobs. 😁

Down below, you'll see a very happy KickSands taking revenge on the pain I caused him throughout the years. 😆

Kevin_Nova had a brief match with KickSands. I did told him that he can learn a LOT from KickSands, but if the size of his brain is as small as my pea brain, then yeah, he'll forget most of the moves we would be learning here. ðŸĪŠ However, I did learn that the headlock with armlock can easily be transformed into a submissive armbar.

Kevin_Nova left around 11 PM and I think we continued to tumble until 1 AM. 😅 We gave each other a warm embrace and bear hugs and I sneaked a little kiss on CdnBackPacker's beard. 😂

The next day, we packed up and started driving back to Montreal. LumberG told me that he really enjoyed the week-end and that his favorite wrestler was CanWrestle because of his wrestling and life experience, personality and the great stories he can share with us about his career. He understands better the 80s and 90s that both LumberG and CanWrestle have gone through.

We'll definitely come back. That's for sure. 😄
