Enemy thugs can apply this hold and since you can choose both male and female characters, you basically pick who gets to be bearhugged later in the gameplay.

Both Spikeout and Spikeout Final Edition is for the arcade whereas Spikeout: Battle Street is for the XBox.

I’m not sure if the XBox version has the bearhugs though.

The thugs from Stage 3 can bearhug you. They are both found in Spikeout Battle Street and Spikeout Final Edition.

The reverse-inverted bearhug is performed by a boss caleld "Phoenix" at the end of the pre-stage only on Spikeout Final Edition. Spikeout Battle Street does not have the pre-stage. Apparently, you can even play with this character

As far as I know, this is the only game in existence that does reverse-inverted bearhugs.

I also refer to this video game as "Break the gate!" because you hear it so often in this game.
