Season 4, Episode #25
Number (#142) in series
Bearhug occurs at about 23:15 and lasts for about 21 seconds. The pain in the victim's face and body language (body contorting, boots kicking and dragging) is good acting
Quality of the vidoe I found is bad, but the one available through streaming or on the air is HD quality.
When a man named Joe Plummer (Grant Williams) becomes jealous of his ex-girlfriend having a relationship with a bigger, older gentleman named Mike Blocker (Denver Pyle), he tries to frame him for murder and make the town believe Blocker (the Bear of the title) is a criminal.
In the end the marshal finds Blocker bearhugging Plummer in an alleyway when they get into a fight.
The marshall stops Blocker before he kills the younger man, who drops his prey and explains why he was squeezing the life out of him.
The marshal remarks that he nearly killed him and busted him up bad, but since he's still breathing, though badly injured from the crushing bearhug, he won't prosecute Blocker who was protecting his honor.
In the radio version, Blocker does kill him, though I don't think it specifies he bearhugged him, the body is found broken. |
