===========================================
This tape has quite a couple of bearhugs:
- Ken Patera defeated Hercules (w/ Bobby Heenan & King Harley Race) via disqualification at 3:12 when Race interfered as Hercules was caught in the bearhug; after the match, Billy Jack Haynes made the save (Patera's return match) (WWF Superstars - 4/23/87; Worcester, MA) (see Database ID 2991)
- Ken Patera defeated Jimmy Jack Funk via submission with the bearhug (WWF Superstars - 5/12/87; Anaheim, CA)
- Ken Patera defeated Frankie Lane via submission with the bearhug; after the match, the Heenan Family consisting of King Kong Bundy, Paul Orndorff, Hercules, & King Harley Race who were watching the match from the aisle - attacked Patera and began whipping him with Bobby Heenan's belt until several referees swarmed the ring (WWF Superstars - 6/2/87; Buffalo, NY)
- Ken Patera defeated the Honkytonk Man (w/ Jimmy Hart) via disqualification when Hart interfered as Honky was caught in the bearhug; after the contest, Patera locked both Honky and Hart in the move at the same time (5/18/87; Madison Square Garden)
Note that this tape is a compilation of Ken Patera's best matches and includes the matches described above. This also proves that back in the 80 and 90's, the bearhug was still quite a popular move.
I think this tape should be interesting considering that Ken Patera is bearhugging both Honky and Hart in a single bearhug. (At least, that's what I understood from the review). |
