Whlie in the air, the opponent can rest his legs on each side of his attacker's legs for better leverage as shown in 8, or he can wrap his legs around the attacker's torso as shown in 15 to then apply a body scissor. The victim may also wrap his legs around the attacker's legs as shown in LS1.

9 Kneeling bearhug kneeling bearhug Same as frontal bearhug, except that the attacker kneels in front of his victim. The victim may also optionally kneel or stand. Kneeling provides a better leverage and balance of the bearhug. Obviously, you can also have sitting bearhugs and reverse kneeling bearhugs, etc. - 2 3
10 Ground bearhug face down ground bearhug face down The victim lies on the ground on his back, facing up. The attacker is facing down and lies on the victim. The attacker wraps his arms around the victim's torso and applies pressure.

Optionally, the attacker can push his body (weight) forward to intensify the pressure. The victim is basically squeezed against the ground.

16 Double double bearhug double double bearhug Requires 4 people

There are two attackers and two victims.

The first attacker applies a bearhug on the first victim. The second attack applies a bearhug on the second victim. The two attackers push their victim towards each other so that the victims are back to back. Both attackers applies pressure inwards.

The direction in here is really optional. If you look at the two people on the left, they are doing a reverse bearhug whlie the two people on the right are performing a frontal bearhug. Mix it up and have fun! :)

Watch also the arms of the attackers: they reach for each other's arms to tighten the grip of the bearhug sandwich.
