My experience of wrestling is 99.99 percent as seen on television and youtube. I watched the wresting on ITV as a kid and With hindsight what was presented then on television obviously designed to be safe for the wrestlers but appear to be dangerous to the public. Forty years ago television/wrestling hot wired my puberty and sexual development in a way that I could ever unpick or reverse. Part of me wishes I had wrestled regularly back then as part of a structured and coached team sport. It was not going to happen, though.
Due to middle age my puberty has now mostly unpicked itself. But television wrestling was a powerful fantasy life on a plate back then which I have never quite quit.
On holiday in August 2012 I play wrestled for the first time, facing the other guy both on our knees, keeping on our knees, 3 mins matches where there would be either a pin fall or tap out. It was a blast, fun inclusive and the ache afterwards was very rewarding, it did not matter who won, the point was to stretch each other as much as possible. I want more, it seemed so much more healthy to do than watch on the box or remember doing so a long time ago.
I am friendly and articulate, so write if you want. I am a great fan of some of the stories presented here. Writing talent that expresses something a lived life for those who don't always get to live it is always appreciated. |
