Pictionary of Wrestling Holds
Figure-four Leg Lock

Personal definition:

I have trouble applying this hold myself, so I won't even attempt to define it. See the Wiki definition below.
Big Book of Wrestling Moves definition: Leg Lock, Figure Four
Used by : Ric Flair, Greg Valentine, Jeff Jarrett, Tito Santana
Description : The victim is on their back, the attacker grabs one leg and bends it sideways behind one of the attacker's own legs and on top of the victim's other leg, forming a "4" with the victim's legs. The attacker holds the victim's straight leg, falls backwards to the mat and secures the victim's bent leg in place by placing their free leg on top of the ankle of the victim's bent leg.
Wiki definition: The wrestler using this move stands over the opponent who is lying on the mat, face up and grasps a leg of the opponent. The wrestler then does a spinning toe hold and grasps the other leg, crossing them as he does so and falls to the mat, applying pressure to the opponent's crossed legs with his own.

This move was made popular as the finishing move of "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers, and later "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, who sometimes adds to it by twisting his opponents ankle as it is locked in.

A wrestler may counter the figure four by rolling over on to their stomach, which applies the pressure on the original applier's legs. This counter to the figure four is often called a modified indian deathlock or sometimes referred to as a sharpshooter variant.
