Saturday, December 28, 2002 [13:31 EST] - Early New Year's update: 192 pics

The trick is that the pics are on the Bearhug Discussion Group . I wanted to save space on my site so I decided to put them there instead. Here's the message I posted earlier today on the club/group:

Subject: Early new year's gift =) 12 albums x 16 pics = 192 pics

Since I won't be here on new year's eve, I've decided I'd give the
little surprise earlier :) I've being doing a little clean-up on this
group..

Forgive me if the group is set to full moderation and attachment
refusal. They've been quite a lot of viruses and spam mail wandering
on the net, so this is the best way to deal with unwanted junk and
spammers.

I've erased the previous albums since they were there since quite
some time. Instead, they have been replaced them with 12 new albums
with 16 pics each (for a total of 192 pics). Those are the scans that
Razor_Omega provided me and I couldn't find a more suitable space on
my website to store them without wasting too much memory. I just
remembered that there's a big chunk of 30 MB available on this group
so I might as well put those images into good use by posting them
here =)

Hope you guys will enjoy them, feel free to e-mail me to provide any
feedback regarding the albums. Also, if you happen to pass by the
BSP site, make sure you leave a message on the tag-board :))

If you have questions regarding the site, such as common question
about site update, make sure you read the FAQ in the articles section.

Also, the last match for the first tournament is currently active, so
cast your vote! E-mails were sent for people who submitted their
candidate for the second tournament which will begin on January 3,
2002.

Happy holidays!

BSP Webmaster

Since I know that some of you have problems joining the group, I've provided here the step-by-step instruction to join. It's free btw so don't worry, I won't be asking any credit card info or any other crap like that. The information is also permanently installed in the articles section of the site. Speaking of articles, I've updated the FAQ to answer some other common questions. Starting today, I'm no longer answering e-mails for questions that are already answered in the FAQ.

Saturday, December 28, 2002 [10:44 EST] - Final Match: Goldberg vs Shamrock

The previous match featured Shamrock against Brock Lesnar and this was a very tight one. Shamrock won by 3 votes and will now compete in the final match against Goldberg. Make you sure you cast your final vote for this tournament. It's time for you to determine who should be the ultimate bearhugger . Results for the 14 previous match-ups have also being posted - you just need to scroll below this page and check for the tables. Some of the results, such as the rank or the public's choice rating, aren't final yet.

Once this match is done, the second tournament will begin.

Wednesday, December 25, 2002 [01:57 EST] - Merry Christmas!!!

The BSP wishes you a very merry Christmas! May this Christmas be extra-special for you as you celebrate the season with friends and loved ones.

Of course, a Christmas wouldn't be merry enough without NEW bearhug galleries ! You can visit gallery 45, gallery 46, monochrome 3, monochrome 4 and illustrations 2, which all have new pictures.

The time for the update seems unusual, but that's because I was busy unwrapping gifts with my family . Nothing beats a good family reunion and a combination of happiness, joy and fun.

I'd like to take the opportunity to sincerly give my thanks to everyone who supported the site during all this time. The BSP is in your debt . Hope you guys all have the most wonderful Christmas, Peace!

Tuesday, December 24, 2002 [11:26 EST] - Contest update

All the 16 candidates for the second bearhug tournament have been selected. An e-mail was also sent to the lucky people (managers) who had their candidate picked to participate in the tournament. You can take a sneak peak here to know which pictures these managers have chosen.

The second tournament will begin on January 4, 2003. This will leave enough time for the first tournament to reach its end. The current match between Ken Shamrock and Brock Lesnar is a tight one, but I'm rooting for Ken so please vote for him, hehehehe.

Monday, December 23, 2002 [20:54 EST] - Articles up

I've added today a new category: Articles. This section will regroup documents related to bearhugs in some way or another or that has something to do with the site. You can find a FAQ regarding some of the commonly asked questions that are being sent to me and I've reposted the Unoffficial Guide to Bearhugs since it's pretty much lost in the archives. I've also posted a link about Defending yourself Against Bearhugs from the Safety for Women website. Even if you're not a woman, don't be shy to look at the vital information this site has for you.

BraveNet are currently experiencing problems with their servers so I am disabling the polls for the time being. Also, all communications with the e-mail form may be interrupted, but I'm not sure sure.

Monday, December 23, 2002 [17:10 EST] - Groups for individual companies

There has been a lot of development in Yahoo groups since I've last spoke about them. Groups that concentrate on a certain company are worth a mention though: there are groups for fans of BG East, UIW-submission and also JPWA. You'll be able to find pictures and information/rumors pertaining to the specified company. These groups are also very good areas for single company tape trades. Much of these groups are very small, but it's only a matter of time until they become a vast empire .

I'm looking for the person who've submitted Pete Kuzak as his/her submission for the contest. If you are this person, please e-mail me with your e-mail info, manager name, location & country please. Thanks!

I have some stuff done for uploading on the site, but I'm keeping them for Christmas so come back on the 25th, ok?

Friday, December 20, 2002 [13:25 EST] - Emulation

Yes.. it's a bit off topic, but I have being asked a couple of times how and where I generate the animated bearhugs and other animations. To hint you, it's called "Game Emulation". Emulation allows any user to play arcade and console games at the comfort of your home computer. For more information, you can always visit the Emulation HQ, one of the best site for news regarding both console and arcade emulation. I also recommend Mame.net, which provides the best in arcade emulation.

I won't be here this week-end, but I'm however preparing a few additions for the monochrome and illustration galleries, which should be ready for Christmas . Today's little update is a revamp of the categories/sections on both frame and non-frame version of the site. There are some categories that became obsolete, so it was about time I clean-up all the junk : CDs and Compilations now go under one category. Wallpapers, Flash Animation and Database categories have being moved into the galleries. Clubs & Forums were moved into the links section. News, Clips, Mailing List were trashed since I no longer use them. Clips take both space and bandwidth so I don't even think I'll ever be able to host them. The rest stayed as they were. I should be working on the links section soon enough.

Submissions for the contest have being completed. I received the required amount and will have to go through one by one to check their eligibility. The second tournament will be, hopefully on the new year.

Monday, December 16, 2002 [20:21 EST] - New profiles and profile/ad submission form

I just love HTML It makes complicated things... so simple.

New profiles have been added today. You can see Mark's, Devo's and Stan's new ad over here. In addition, you can now just fill an online form to submit your profile/ad. See all the details right here.

Make sure you answer my bearhug polls above . The questions will randomly loop for each of your different visits to this page.

Sunday, December 15, 2002 [15:09 EST] - Me bad..

Heh.. I just realized this morning that I've uploaded all the HTML files, but I forgot to load the pics. Hence, the newest gallery pages had absolutely no images . Not to worry, the bearhugs are now uploaded so go check them to feast your eyes.

Saturday, December 14, 2002 [23:16 EST] - Finals done, new galleries, tournament info & Battle.net

Talk about a long subject.. anyways.. I just had my last final yesterday about microprocessors systems and gosh! I'm so glad that this semester has reached an end. I was supposed to upload my files yesterday also, but I had problems so here I am today instead .

I come back after two weeks of "partial" absence and WHAM! both my hotmail and yahoo e-mails are full! I've received significant output.. well.. contributions for new galleries.

Now for something a bit more interesting: As promised, I'm adding today new galleries (which are mainly composed of the contributions I've received ). You won't find just one or two.. but five new galleries Yay! The places you need to visit are gallery 40, gallery 41, gallery 42, gallery 43 & gallery 44. I've also managed to reconfigure the navigation bar on each gallery to include access to gallery 41 and onward.

Concerning the fantasy tournament, we were in the matches for second-round elimination this week and we now have the last four standing challengers that will compete in two matches: Bill Kazmaier vs. Goldberg and Ken Shamrock vs. Brock Lesnar. The semi-finals have begun and you can vote now for the Kazmaier/Goldberg match. Winner of this battle moves to the final battle

Note that I haven't had the chances yet to calculate the statistics for the second-round of elimination. I should have that done probably somewhere next week. I also have a couple of new profiles pending along with images for both the monochrome and illustration galleries. Well, since I'm now in my "vacation", I'll make sure to have those new stuff integrated to the site as soon as possible.

My participation in the groups will be drastically decreased (up to full-absence) starting today. I feel it is best for me to concentrate on the website rather than spending time on the groups, which hasn't been yet the most enjoyable for me. Aside from that, I'll try to keep constant updates.. well not that constant , but I'll try to clear the backlog that i've accumulated during these past few weeks.

Besides, there has been a little more activity this week on the tag-board. I'm glad that some people actually decided to try it for fun. You can leave a public message on the tag-board by clicking right here.

When I'm not updating the site or taking a break out of studies, I play online on battle.net in the US East realms of D2: LoD, so if you also play this game, maybe we can get together for items trading and co-op games. Just leave me a message and I'll get right back to you as soon as possible.

Wednesday, December 4, 2002 - Need help getting a candidate?

Although there's an infinite amount of choices for candidate selection, here is one good website you should check if you want to pick an appropriate one for the upcoming contest: Allow me to suggest visiting http://www.bigbodies.com and you'll find the right challenger in no time. I'm still waiting for the last remaining entries so I can wrap up everything and prepare the second tournament as the first one is near its end. So, while I go memorize some formula for my signals & system electronics course, why don't you go select a candidate and mail it to me, hmmm?

By looking at the current results of the poll, I think it's obvious by now that you guys mostly prefer BG's bearhugs. I'd have to admit, their bearhugs are incredible too, though I don't understand why Can-Am or OnTop can't produce the same quality as BG..

Oh, and one last thing: Looks like a new wrestling company (G-rated) has surfaced and it looks very promising. Check out Pro Muscle Wrestling. The wrestlers are quite beefy and the matches sounds interesting. Avid fans of muscle will surely have this company as one of their next targets. What i do like with this company is that they are one of the rare ones that will support Paypal as a method of payment. It's rare to see any large company use Paypal (probably because they are charging a fee for the sellers), but this is used a lot in smaller companies and especially in Ebay auctions

Monday, December 2, 2002 - I hate studying, heh

Yea.. yea.. I know. I should be studying instead of writing this . Courses has ended and all that is left are my finals, so I'm home in front of my books, but hey, I've already studied for around 8 hours yesterday so I deserve a rest, right?

You can tell that I've been very fond of web gadgets lately.. First the web meters at the bottom of this page, then Bravenet for the poll above, and now... TAG-BOARD!! Woooot! What is it? Simple, it's like a semi-interactive message board and chat system. Get to the intro page of the site now and you'll be able to talk live with other users that are currently online on the site OR leave a message and come back an hour or two to see a reply from somebody else. The messages are posted instantaneously. In my opinion, I love the system and I think it's very neat .

I've realized that some people had trouble e-mailing me with the links I provided for my hotmail address. If you're using a shared computer, it obviously won't work In order to resolve this, there's a new web form that allows everyone to leave me an instant message! Yay! Check it now and tell me what you think.

Saturday, November 30, 2002 - [News section temporarily removed]

Update (2003/01/04): This news section was removed upon administrative requests. If you wish to receive more info about the information that was contained here, please e-mail me from your official IP e-mail address (non-web-based) along with your motives.

Saturday, November 16, 2002 - Away until December 14

Yeah you guessed it: finals, projects, quizzes and the like. Engineering is a tough discipline, really. You guys are pretty much used to this "away" thing aren't ya? I won't be updating the site until December 14, but I'll make sure to have some galleries ready when I return. Hence, every personals and tournament progress will have to wait until that date, which is my last day for the semester.

Meanwhile, you can always check BG East because they have new videos. If someone want me to get me a Christmas gift, please get Big-n-Beefy 1 for me, pretty please? - i'm kidding by the way. If BG isn't enough, then you can always check out the links section to appease your hunger for bearhugs.

Saturday, November 9, 2002 - Review: Silent Rage & Conan The Destroyer

This is one of the movie featured in the bearhug in movies section and allow me to talk a bit about it, because I was very deceived by this title. This movie has a mix of both horror and action. This psycho guy just lurks around and kills everyone he sees. He has some sort of DNA thing inside of him that makes him invulnerable. This guy ends up bearhugging a fat cop and breaks his back. This lasts around as 10-15 seconds interrupted by screens of a lady that is in total shock. My opinion: don't even rent it There are some other bearhugs in the movie it seems, but I don't recall them. Maybe I fast-forwarded a bit too much. Anyways, you can always check the eight pics contributed by Sam.

As for "Conan The Destroyer", this one gave me a laugh. If you're into a bit of medieval era with swords, magic and creatures, then just rent the movie because of that, NOT because of the bearhug ! Ok.. you're favorite muscle guy (the big Arnold) gets bearhugged by some creature (wearing an obvious gorilla mask) and Arnold counters with one of his own, but the scenes are so short and they keep getting interrupted. It's still a bearhug though, but don't get too hyped about it . You should keep your expectations low if you are to rent these movies just for their bearhugs.

By the way, I'm open to those who wants to sell their old & used BG or Can-Am wrestling tape if you're not watching them anymore. Some recommended to me E-bay.. True, there's always a dozen of them available when you look for them, but the BG tapes are sold quite high (even higher than if you actually bought them from the site as brand new). I guess some people don't trust giving away their private information to BG and they'd probably feel safer giving them to an individual. Then again, individuals accept flexible payment methods while BG always seems to ask for credit cards.

Woot! Goldberg rocks! He'd take anyone out with a bearhug according to your votes . The thing is that he never actually used the bearhug hold a single time in his career - would be awesome if he did.

Saturday, November 2, 2002 - Slight change of rules

There's been a little confusion regarding the submission of pics for the contest, but i've decided to approve of the submissions. So, you may now choose to send either a pic of your candidate alone (a facial or a full body pic) or of him giving/receiving a bearhug. If it's a bearhug pic, please do tell me which one is your candidate (the bearhugger or the victim). Please visit the contest page for more information. Remember that you get a bearhug compilation if you're the winner . People that have already entered the tournament without knowing this can resend a pic of their candidates if they wish. Just mail 'em all to me with the information specified for the contest.

On Halloween night, we were distributing candies and there was this one kid with a cereal box on his head. I asked him what was his disguise and he replied: "Well... I'm a serial killer". Hahaha..

Friday, November 1st, 2002 - Yay! Prohosting still active!

You can't imagine the relief it gave me to know that I could still FTP to Prohosting. There was apparently some maintenance and some moving-around during the week-end. I tried logging in nearly everyday and kept getting problems until my luck finally came today, woot!

Anyways, I'm still looking for new candidates for the second tournament and if you don't mind getting a free bearhug compilation (if you candidate gets the 1st place), then enter today for the contest. There are still a lot of space available! I've created new sections in the menus (both frame and no-frame) so that this contest thing is clearly visible to everyone visiting the site.
